Travel - Key Events For Mar

As the weather slowly improves in the UK - it's probably still nicer to take yourself away for more fun overseas.

Mardi Gras - Sydney, Australia (Mar 1-7)

As the summer in Australia draws to an end, why not party in Sydney's Gay & Lesbian mardi gras - packed with art, sports, culture and street parades.

Iditarod - Alaska, USA (Mar 7)

The 'Last Great Race On Earth' taking place through sub-zero temperatures from Anchorage to Nome. Mushers and dogs get ready!

Holi - India (Mar 11)

This Hindu celebration sees the air filled with gulal - a dyed powder - as everybody basically throws it over everything in their path. Wear something you don't mind ruining.

Calle Ocho - Miami, Florida, USA (Mar 15)

A huge street party in Little Havana with dancing, eating, partying and Latin flavour. Musical stages and food vendors galore.

Australian Surf Life Saving Championships - Scarborough Beach, Western Australia (Mar 17-22)

6000 surf liver savers put their skills to the test. After the aquatic antics, competitors and spectators party through the night.

Spring Equinox - Chichen Itza, Mexico (Mar 20)

A serpent created from the magical equinox light appears on the famous Mayan site.

Atacama Crossing - Chile (Mar 29)

A desert race of ultimate endurance. The other desert races - Gobi, Sahara & Antarctica follow later in the year.

Snowbombing - Mayrhofen, Austria (Mar 29 - Apr 4)

Music and mayhem on the slopes. Fat Boy Slim, Dizzee Rascal and Grandmaster Flash in attendance.
