UFC 96 - Predictions

It feels like UFC events become increasingly frequent. This event from Ohio features some good match ups - with mostly US fighters - but it's all about the main event.

My predictions are as follows:

Quinton Jackson vs Keith Jardine

Both men have lost to Wanderlei Silva - the difference is Rampage avenged that in his last fight - with a devastating KO. Jardine is no push over and has the striking skills to inflict damage. As always the outcome depends on which Jackson turns up.

Prediction: Jackson to win (by unanimous decision)

Shane Carwin vs Gabriel Gonzaga

Two excellent strikers. Carwin puts his undefeated record on the line against a very strong Gonzaga. This should be a flurry of punches with one man left on his back.

Prediction: Gonzaga to win (by TKO)

Matt Brown vs Pete Sell

Neither have records that jump out and say wow. Brown is a mean fighter but has a habit of getting caught in submissions. Sell has a pretty lame record of late.

Prediction: Sell to win (by submission)

Matt Hamill vs Mark Munoz

This should be a really interesting battle. Both are excellent wrestlers. With both men likely to take it to the ground - this is likely to go the distance.

Prediction: Hamill to win (by unanimous decision)

Jim Miller vs Gray Maynard

Another great match made by the UFC. Difficult to separate the two - both with solid records. Will either go down to a sloppy mistake and a tap or a potential split decision.

Prediction: Maynard to win (by split decision)
